There’s something to be said for a quiet night in. And while I love gathering with friends and family alike, in between the weekends of hosting or travelling, it is so refreshing to settle in and have a quiet movie night with the family. It seems like such a simple and obvious activity to do with young kids, but movie nights where we’re all watching together are rare in this household. Amidst work, bath nights, homework, playdates, and chores around the house, it’s tough to find the time to slow down and just be together.
Our kids are quite young and very active. While Nora gets so excited for movie nights, sitting through the whole thing is a big feat. So, when we have a movie night at home, we make a big deal of it. Snacks, of course, are the most important part. I like to prep a showstopper of a snack board for the kids with a good mix of healthy eats and lots of treats. These Pretzel crisps are a huge hit over here. And they are super versatile.
Pretzel Crisps (garlic parmesan) $4.99 | G.H. Gretors popcorn (just the cheese) $5.99
I arranged a board with them, some fruit, salami, tomatoes and naturally, popcorn & candy! It truly makes the night more special.
Cocktail Tomatoes $4.00 | Strawberries $5.50
And of course, if you plan to settle in on the couch for a night, you need to be cozy! Pyjamas are a must. Also, I’ve recently indulged in these ‘Worlds softest socks’ that Anna’s carries. And I have to say, they hold up to their name. My feet are in heaven! I highly recommend them (and if you’ve begun your Christmas shopping, they make a great stocking stuffer)!
World’s Softest socks $14.99
Yes, we could simply sit and watch from the couch, as I’m sure most people do. But we like to blow up an air mattress alongside the sofa for optimum comfort and add in an excess of pillows and blankets. It not only provides extra rolling space if the littles get restless, but the added textures really add to that wow factor that we strive for!
XOXO 36” lumbar cushion $49.99 | Charcoal/cream reversible throw blanket $99.99 | Plush lavender throw $79.99
This lavender throw blanket is always a hot commodity with the kids. It is just so lush and unbelievably soft, and has the sweetest little message. I may have to invest in a second one 😉.
Plush lavender throw blanket $79.99
Once all the preparations have been made, it’s time to dim the lights, settle in and enjoy all the snuggles!
I don’t know about you, but our family LOVES a good scare! Whether you have young children, teenagers or adults in the house, nothing is better than snuggling together to get spooked!‘Hocus Pocus’ is a favourite in this house, and what we went with this time.
