Cyclamen, with its stunning patterned, heart-shaped leaves, they make the perfect gift to brighten any space—even when it’s not in bloom.
A Mediterranean native, Cyclamen flourish in their native climate by blooming in the cooler months and entering a restful dormancy during the hot, dry summer. This seasonal rhythm allows them to thrive in their natural environment.
Most commonly sold as potted plants for indoor use, cyclamen also make a wonderful addition to outdoor spaces during warm weather. However, it's important to place them in a cool, partly shaded location to prevent dormancy triggered by excessive heat.
Cyclamen Care Instructions:
Water: While in bloom, keep the soil moist, not soggy. The best way to water is by placing the pot in a water-filled tray and allowing the roots to absorb the moisture, rather than watering from above the plant.
Fertilizer: Apply a liquid fertilizer every 8 weeks throughout the growing period.
Maintenance: In the spring, the leaves will appear to be dying—the plant is going dormant. To force the plant to re-bloom in the fall, stop watering and store in a cool, dry area for 2 months. When new growth appears (September-ish) start watering.
