Mistyglen Creamery

Mistyglen Creamery

This week, we're excited to feature Mistyglen Creamery, a local business with deep roots in Elgin County and a proud legacy of dairy farming that stretches back more than 200 years. The Pettit family first settled in the area in 1816, long before Canada even became a country, with the original Pettit Homestead located just next door to their current farm. From the early days of mixed farming to a full commitment to dairy, the Pettit family has built a strong, multi-generational tradition of working the land and producing high-quality milk.

Murray Pettit, the youngest of the Pettit siblings, purchased the farm next door to the homestead in 1957. At just 19 years old, he began milking cows by hand and working with horses. Over time, Murray transitioned from hand milking to modern dairy farming equipment, and with the support of his wife Betty, they raised a family dedicated to continuing the farming legacy. In 1999, their children, Tom and Kris, returned to the farm to carry on the family tradition.

After facing the challenges of two tornadoes in 2020 and the disruptions of the pandemic, the Pettit family opened Mistyglen Creamery on June 18, 2022. This on-farm processing facility allows them to take their milk from farm to table, offering fresh, nutritious, and locally produced dairy products that reflect their commitment to quality and community.

What Makes Mistyglen Milk Different?

The milk produced at Mistyglen Creamery is special not just because it’s fresh—it’s made with care using sustainable farming practices and a focus on the well-being of both the cows and the land. The Pettit family’s hard work and dedication to quality are reflected in every bottle of milk, every tub of yogurt, and every batch of cheese curds.

At Anna’s, we’re proud to carry a selection of Mistyglen’s finest products, including Milk, Chocolate Milk, Cheese Curds (flavoured and regular), and Yogurt. These locally-produced dairy items are a true reflection of the Pettit family’s commitment to their community and the land they’ve tended to for generations.

Whether you’re enjoying a glass of fresh milk, indulging in chocolate milk, or snacking on delicious cheese curds, you can taste the care and tradition that go into each product. Stop by Anna’s and take home a piece of Mistyglen’s legacy today!
