Words are powerful. They can affect our emotions, our mindset and our outlook on just about everything. 

That’s why we think it’s so important to use positive words when we’re talking about ourselves and others. Surrounding yourself with positive people and positive reminders on a daily basis will also help you stay upbeat, and in a state of “nothing can bring me down”. We need to practice these positive ways of life with everyone we interact with and exercise encouraging words of affirmation to ourselves. Being kind to others should be everyone’s goal in life, but being kind to yourself should be right at the top of your priority list too. 

From the moment you wake up, try your best to think positively. We like to think about and sometimes write down, 5 things we’re grateful for. It doesn’t have to be deep and meaningful, for example, the hot coffee you’re drinking, the sunshine pouring through your window, a sleeping baby, etc. Writing down and acknowledging things you’re grateful for is such a great way to not only stay positive but to really see the many things we’re so blessed to have in our lives. Journaling doesn’t have to be a chore, jotting down a few quick sentences about your day, your emotions, a new goal or things you’re grateful for is a great way to start. Before you know it, it’ll be something you look forward to and most likely it will become part of your daily routine. Getting your thoughts down on paper makes us face our emotions and deal with some of our feelings that are sometimes confusing or overwhelming.

Along with being grateful for what we have, we spoke about positive affirmations and being kind to yourself. The world is a harsh place sometimes and instead of constantly building up our self-confidence there are always people telling us what we can’t do and what we aren’t. Before we know it we start to believe others and negative thoughts can start to creep into our head. That’s why we need to remind ourselves that we are capable and enough.
