Black-Eyed Susan Vine

Black-Eyed Susan Vine

The Black-Eyed Susan Vine (Thunbergia alata), a tropical perennial plant in Africa is grown here as an annual flowering vine. This easy-to-care-for and fast-growing hanging basket is perfect to adorn an entryway or add to a patio pot as a climbing thriller plant. With its bright and cheery daisy-like flowers - place this plant in full sun with afternoon shade or partial shade to watch it really show off!

If transplanting your hanging basket, the Black-Eyed Susan Vinie does well planted in rich, well-draining soil in a sunny location, but you will want to give it some supporting trellis or structure to cling to whether you want the plant to climb or spill. A lattice or metal fence offer great support to allow the vines to weave into a stunning living wall.

Black-eyed Susan vines bloom repeatedly from May through to fall, with no deadheading required to keep them in bloom.
