The Sun Parlor Story: 100% Pure Natural Canadian Honey
Sun Parlor Honey is a family-owned and operated business located in the Cottam area. Sun Parlor Honey is among the largest honey producers in the province. This year their 1,700 hives and 85 million bees will produce more than 80 tonnes of award-winning Ontario honey.
If you live in Southern Ontario’s Essex County and enjoy produce, chances are it is one of Congdon’s 85 million bees that have pollinated it! In the spring, many of the Congdon’s hives are leased to local farmers who need the bees to pollinate their apple, plum, pear and cherry crops. Essex County cucumbers, melons and strawberries also rely on Congdon’s bees for a bountiful harvest. No wonder bees are such an important part of the regional economy.
Nutritious and tasty, Sun Parlor Honey honey has it all!
The Congdon family has been selling honey since 1925, but keeping bees since 1916. With three generations of Congdons active in the daily business, quality is kept to the highest standards.
At Sun Parlor Honey, they produce honey both in Essex County and north of Guelph in North Wellington County. With production areas that are very different, they have a large variety of floral sources. This allows them to bring you the best of Ontario’s honey.

Sun Parlor Products:
Honey – White Liquid
Sun Parlor's white liquid honey is collected from clover, alpha plants and wild flowers. This honey is then extracted from the combs, strained and carefully packaged in bottles maintaining its natural flavours and quality. Honey is the only natural sweetener known that needs no additional refining or processing to be utilized. White or light coloured honey tends to have a mild light flavour and is a favourite on bread, ice cream, in baking, coffee and tea.
Honey – Buckwheat
The extraction and bottling process is the same as white liquid honey. The bees collect the nectar from the buckwheat plants and it has a bold honey flavour with a dark appearance.
Honey – White Creamed
Creamed honey (also known as solid, churned, whipped or spun) is physically processed by controlled crystallization to a smooth spreadable consistency.
Comb Honey
Appropriately named, Comb honey is exactly as it is stored by the bees, with both the honey and beeswax together. Sun Parlor honey comb can be served on toast or can be cut into bite sized chunks for a snack on the go.
Bee Pollen
Bee pollen is often referred to as nature’s most complete food. Bee pollen rejuvenates your body, stimulates organs and glands, enhances vitality, and brings about a longer life span. Bee pollen’s ability to consistently and noticeably increase energy levels makes it a favorite substance among many world class athletes. Bee pollen benefits your immune system and helps build immunity to pollen.
