Mom. A small word with so many big roles.
Mothers have one of the most influential and important jobs in the world, and one of the most difficult. From the obvious daily duties of nurturing and raising us, moms also act as; chef, chauffeur, referee, cheerleader, housekeeper, judge and teacher. So on Mother’s Day, we want to celebrate these special women for all that they do, and all that they are.
Reflecting back on past mother’s days had us remembering activities and outings we did, and not so much the actual gift we gave our moms or got once we became a mother. We remember the experiences, like the fun local spots we went to for a walk, a treat or a meal with our family. Spending time with your loved ones is probably your mom’s idea of a perfect Mother’s Day, so do just that, plan a day together that will turn into something she looks forward to every year.
There are so many great local spots in the Kingsville area that offer great scenery if you want to get outside, or great food if you’re looking to fill your bellies. We love the idea of a Mother’s Day tradition, so we’ve rounded up some ideas to help make your mom’s special day meaningful and memorable, and yes they involve shopping, food and family – three things moms love!
With Mother’s Day being in the heart of Spring it’s the perfect time to buy your flowers and what better place to get them than at Anna’s! Come on by and pick out a beautiful hanging basket with your mom, or peruse our great selection of home decor, wellness products, fresh local produce and so much more. In our opinion Mother’s Day and flowers go hand in hand, so why not get her a basket or arrangement that will last her all Spring and Summer. If your mom loves sweet treats head over to Kings Bake Shop to pick out one or two of her favourite desserts. They offer a great selection of beautifully crafted macaroons, cupcakes, cookies, bread and more. We recommend the fuzzy peach cupcakes and the cotton candy cookie sandwiches, but no matter what you choose you can’t go wrong, everything in there is absolutely delicious. This sweet little bake shop is the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee and a treat with your mom or take it to go and enjoy it at the park or in the comfort of your home.
April showers bring May flowers, right? We’re crossing our fingers that the month of May is full of sunshine, vibrant blooms and warmer days, especially on Mother’s Day. Getting outside is good for the soul any day of the week, but we hope that May 12th brings perfect Spring weather so we can all enjoy some fresh air. We think something as simple as getting out for a family walk is another great way to spend time with your mom. There are so many beautiful outdoor locations for a stroll, a hike or somewhere to sit and chat, some of our favourite spots include; Lakeside Park, Pelee conservation area, Leamington Harbour and Seacliff Beach & Park.
