The Fafard brand story is one of family history, heart and passion…with roots dating back to the 1930s, Conrad Fafard originally founded QUÉBEC PEAT MOSS, with the purchase of their first peat bog in Saint-Bonaventure, Québec.
In its early days, the Quebec company focused primarily on the production of peat moss and black earth. in the 1970s, Fafard created their first soil mixes to satisfy the needs of horticultural professionals - eventually broadening their line to compost production as well.
Fast forward to 2022, the company opened up a research laboratory and experimental greenhouse to analyze and measure product performance and bolster quality. For the Fafard family, the best way to ensure the long-term growth of the brand was to eventually be acquired by Scotts Miracle-Gro in 2014.
