Tropical Hibiscus

Tropical Hibiscus

If you’re looking to create your own tropical oasis, then look no further than Tropical Hibiscus! These sun-loving, showy plants make a great addition to pots, planters and garden beds.  Tropical Hibiscus look particularly at home by pools and paired with other tropical beauties!  Tropical Hibiscus blooms in a variety of bright Summer hues as well as bi-colour varieties, not to mention they are children and pet-friendly!

With an easy care nature, these disease resistant plants can grow up to be 4′ x 5′ when planted in a landscape. If you are keeping your hibiscus in a container, they prefer a tight fit and crowded roots. Plant with a lightweight well-drained potting soil that contains compost and perlite.

As sun lovers, Tropical Hibiscus will thrive in a bright, sunny location where they will receive 6 – 8 hours of sunlight each day.  Tropical Hibiscus can grow in part shade as well, but they will likely bloom less often.

Water Tropical Hibiscus regularly, especially on hot and humid Summer days.  Tropical Hibiscus performs best when their soil is kept consistently moist, but not overly saturated.  It is common for Tropical Hibiscus to drop flowers if they are allowed to dry out.  Ensure Tropical Hibiscus has adequate drainage, especially if it is in pots or planters.

Fertilize Tropical Hibiscus every couple of weeks with a balanced, water-soluble solution to encourage growth and rapid blooming.

Tropical Hibiscus do not typically require much pruning, but you can lightly prune your plant to encourage bushier and fuller growth.

With a bloom time from Spring until Frost, you will want to bring your Tropical Hibiscus indoors once the weather falls below 33 degrees.

Here at Anna’s, we have a wide assortment of Tropical Hibiscus to choose from coming in 4″, 6″, 10″ bushes and 10″ standing sizes. Know that our Hibiscus move fast and are only available while supplies last.
