The Art of the Table: Hosting an Autumn event with Anna’s

The Art of the Table: Hosting an Autumn event with Anna’s

Autumn has always carried a certain magic for me. It’s the season I fell in love, the season when my little family began to grow, and the season of apple orchards, pumpkin patches, and long walks surrounded by vibrant colours.

There’s something about this time of year that feels both grounding and celebratory. The air is crisp, the days grow shorter, and life naturally draws us closer to home. I especially love hosting family and friends in the fall. It’s the glow of candlelight, the comfort of good food, and the laughter of loved ones that make this time of year so memorable.

Anytime I’m throwing an event, I love to add seasonal touches! From beautiful flowers to elegant pieces of decor.  That’s why I love Anna’s!  They have such a beautiful selection of plants, seasonal textures and unique ornamental pieces, as well as a lovely assortment of local produce. As a busy mom who loves to host, I truly appreciate being able to gather everything I need in one place. The staff are warm, knowledgeable, and always make the experience a pleasure.

When it comes to hosting in the fall, I find that the little details make the biggest difference. So here are a few of my favourite ways to bring the season’s magic to your table:

1. Start with a seasonal centrepiece

Fresh flowers and greenery instantly elevate a table. At Anna’s, I love picking up their autumn-inspired plants, dried floral arrangements, and adding a mix of gourds and pumpkins surrounding it. Anna’s has a lovely selection of both real & faux.

2. Layer textures for warmth

Think beyond the tablecloth—woven placemats, linen napkins, and candles in varying heights add instant charm. When creating this year's fall table scape, I grabbed this beautiful green runner and woven placemats to add different textures. As well as some beautiful autumn coloured tapered candlesticks.

3. Let food double as décor

Bowls of crisp apples, fresh bread on a wooden board, or jars of local honey not only taste delicious but also bring a rustic, inviting touch to the table.

4. Keep the atmosphere cozy

Candlelight is my go-to for setting the mood, the warm glow that makes guests want to linger. My favourite Nancy Myers Fall playlist quietly playing in the background pulls it all together.

5. Add personal touches ( The most important piece!)

Handwritten place cards, tied napkins on the plates, or even seasonal treats make guests feel extra special. These are the details that turn a gathering into a memory.

Hosting in the fall doesn’t have to be complicated, especially with a little help from Anna’s. Just remember it’s all about creating an atmosphere of warmth, comfort, and connection.
