Another month has come and gone and if you’re like me, all the Fall and Halloween decorations have been removed, well other than one little white pumpkin I just couldn’t part with. The house always looks so bare when we take down the holiday decor, but soon enough I’ll be decking the halls with all things Christmas!
Christmas is my favourite holiday, it’s full of wonderful memories, making new memories and traditions that I look forward to all year. Just like every holiday, decorating the house and making your space festive is always a must! This will be the 7th year of an annual Tree Decorating Tour that I do with my best friend and her mom. Two full days of decorating each other’s trees, listening to all our favourite Christmas songs, eating yummy appetizers and enjoying each other’s company. Now that our basement is finished and our daughter is older I’m hoping to put up two trees this year, a small artificial one in the basement and a real one up in our main living room. Growing up we always cut down a real tree and then eventually got a tree that could be planted in the yard. I can’t wait to take our first family trip to the tree farm to pick out and cut down the perfect little tree for our house. Another tree-related tradition we had when I was younger was getting a new ornament every year. My mom always picked something special for each kid that reflected something they loved or an important milestone that happened that year. I’ve continued this tradition with our family and I love searching for the perfect ornament, something special and meaningful, something that our little girl will cherish and take with her when she moves out.
There are so many fun ways to decorate your Christmas trees and it can be a lot of fun coming up with themes and colour schemes that fit your home, your style or your personality. I’ve been helping merchandise the new Christmas inventory at Anna’s and it has been so much fun! The store is alive with endless displays showcasing beautiful Christmas trees full of every ornament you can think of, and displays that will inspire you to start decorating. There’s just nothing better than sipping coffee or watching a movie with just the twinkling lights of your Christmas tree.
Anna’s has come up with 10 Christmas themes using their amazing Christmas collection. I wanted to showcase each theme and give you a taste of what you can expect when you go visit the store. So grab your friends and family and make a trip to Anna’s, I promise you won’t be disappointed!
Winter White
I may not be a big fan of Winter weather but even I can’t deny that a snow-covered landscape isn’t breathtaking. This Winter White theme brings the beauty of all things white, sparkly and snow-covered right into your home. Mix and match different textures and shades of white to create a winter masterpiece. The Winter White tree is full of white glitter pinecone picks, the fluffiest white owls, icy snowflakes and flocked evergreen garland. Add touches of this theme throughout your home with sparkly white mini bottle brush trees that can easily be clustered together and placed on your mantel, shelves and window sills.
Woodland Winter
The rustic house style has grown in popularity over the years so why not keep that theme alive when you decorate for Christmas. This theme gives me all the wooden cabin vibes and I picture the whole family gathered together on a snowy day with the fireplace blazing and a cup of hot cocoa in hand. The Woodland Winter theme incorporates earth tones, metal, woodland creatures and a handful of amazing textures that keep the eyes entertained. I love how this theme gives off all the cozy feels and is a great alternative to a more sparkly, traditional Christmas decor giving it a more manly look.
Nautical
I love that there are endless ways to decorate your Christmas tree and that Anna’s offers so many decorations and ornaments that give you the ability to create a custom, one-of-a-kind tree that is perfect for any home! With Kingsville and area being right near the water there are so many of us that love using the Nautical theme throughout our homes or cottages. I imagine these stunning Nautical ornaments adorning a tree placed in front of large windows overlooking Lake Erie, so dreamy! The combination of these gorgeous shades of blues and greens, knotted rope ornaments, sea creatures and cascading ribbon that reflects the texture of coral creates a calm and serene scene. Add another touch of Nautical to your space by hanging these navy striped stockings to your mantel and spread the Christmas cheer throughout your Nautical home with clusters of these ombre bottle brush trees.
Vintage Christmas
It’s hard to pick a favourite theme since all of them are so beautiful, but I think this Vintage Christmas is in my top three. I love all things Vintage and all the elements that come together to make this theme so homey, nostalgic and oh so festive! The linen, the muted reds, aged glass ornament garlands, wooden beads and Santas all come together to create the perfect Christmas scene. I love that these pieces can be used for more than just tree decor; string the wooden beads across the front of your fireplace to add a pop of colour, weave that stunning strand of glass ornaments through your evergreen garlands or place a gift card or present topper inside those adorable metal tins.
Whimsical Winter
I lied, I’m going to be putting up three Christmas trees this year. Last year I got the cutest 4ft gold foil tree for our daughter’s room and have been collecting some really fun, whimsical ornaments for it. I love the felt ornaments because they won’t break, and let’s be honest she’s two and there’s no stopping her from touching and taking off the ornaments no matter how many times we tell her not to. This Whimsical Winter theme is perfect if you’re like me and love to decorate your little one’s room as well. So many adorable felt ornaments in the shape of cats, dogs, unicorns, Santa and Mrs. Claus! And don’t forget about the felt angel tree topper! Add another fun element by wrapping the tree with these natural wooden bead garlands both horizontally or vertically. The set of five wooden trees is such a fun way to add a monochromatic and Scandinavian Christmas vibe to your little’s space; cluster them together on their dresser or shelf or they would be perfect for their dollhouse too!
Black & Gold Glam
If I could have 5 trees in my house one of them would 100% be this Black & Gold Glam theme? As much as I love the tradition of Christmas and the traditional colours that go with it, I’m all about simplicity when it comes to my home decor. This theme would suit our house because I love black accents and pops of gold, as well as the more neutral colour scheme. I can’t get enough of these ornaments, the different shapes, shades and patterns really come together to create a striking tree. Anna’s always does a great job of displaying their products and giving their customers so many ideas, and the way they’ve set up their Christmas displays is no different. Seeing each tree fully decorated and providing coordinating products that would go well with it makes for an easy and enjoyable shopping experience!
Home for the Holidays
Soft throw blankets, buffalo plaid and vintage red trucks all scream Christmas, cozy and the feelings of being surrounded by all things that mean “home”. If you love incorporating touches of plaid and Christmas throughout your home but aren’t quite sure how, think about hanging fun metal signs above doorways, sitting on your mantel, worked in with your wreath or propped up against your backspace in your kitchen. Add soft textiles like stockings and throw blankets in different plaid patterns, this buffalo plaid is super popular and comes in red and black or white and black. Anna’s also carries a great selection of Christmas serving plates, platters and mugs, perfect for all your holiday hosting and holiday coffee and tea!
Silver Frost
The combination of white, gray and silver creates the perfect frosty tree appearance. Subtle dimension is achieved with the white and gray and the addition of silver adds that hint of sparkle, just like those snow-covered evergreens you see while you’re walking through the woods. There’s something so mesmerizing about ice-covered branches and evergreens heavily weighed down with fresh white snow! Anna’s has combined a handful of beautiful silver, white and gray ornaments that all have a unique and stunning feature that is sure to make your tree a show stopper! Don’t forget about adding in a ribbon or two. I love that this silver and gray velvet adds yet another element of texture and visual interest to move your eye from the top of the tree down to the very bottom. Adding a whitewashed metal Joy sign nestled in your mantel garland and these delicate, white porcelain trees on shelves and counters will tie everything together to create that frosty winter atmosphere.
Farmhouse Christmas
The modern farmhouse home decor style has been hot these past couple years and this style and theme work great when you’re decorating for Christmas too. This theme is just like the decor style, a combination of neutral tones, natural wood, lots of white and hints of black. I love the simplicity of this theme and the subtle winter and Christmas look it gives off with the mixture of natural wooden ornaments, twine balls and smaller wooden signs. Add even more interest and texture with the addition of an endless selection of picks, like these black bells or birchwood stars! Incorporating festive throw pillows is also a great way to add splashes of holiday spirit to your space as well.
Timeless Red & Gold
You can’t go wrong with a classic Red & Gold Christmas tree. The pops of cheery red amongst the sparkle of gold is the perfect way to celebrate this wonderful season. This may be a more traditional decor theme but there are fun, modern elements to keep your tree fresh and current. Swap out your usual ribbon for a roll of this gold sparkle garland that looks so fun cascading down your tree in twists and twirls. Adding fun ornaments and picks in unconventional shapes is also great to modernize your traditional red and gold tree. I do feel that there are pieces like the red berries, poinsettias and classic round ornaments that are a must when putting together a more timeless tree.
