Christmas at Anna’s

Christmas at Anna’s

November is finally here! I don’t know if it’s the anticipation of decorating a new home for the holidays, but I am just so excited for Christmas! (Is anyone else secretly relieved to have finally gotten this Halloween business out of the way?) Honestly, it’s a bit of a catch22 because we won’t be fully moved into our new house until the end of the month, so a festively adorned home is going to be a little late coming this year. But a girl can dream!

And luckily, I have been able to feed into my Christmas whims by decorating 17 Christmas trees at the shop! You read that correctly…17 Christmas trees…and counting!

This week is the holiday preview sale (Oct 31st – Nov 6th all Christmas décor is 20% off), so we have been busy trying to inject as much Christmas magic into the store as we can. And it is certainly a sight to be seen!

For your convenience, the store has been organized into Christmas themes. This year as you tour about the shop, you will notice 8. They are as follows:

Hunter Green and Gold Woodland

Greeting card $6.99 | Gold bells pick $9.99 | Deer $34.99 | Felted mushroom $2.99
Rustic flameless wooden candle $14.99 | 34" cedar spray $14.99

My personal tastes have not strayed too far from last year, the woodland is still my favourite theme. But I especially love it paired with green and gold. It has all the things! Elements of nature, a little whimsy, and glitz! What more could one ask for?! It’s hard to choose, but some of my favourite decorations from this theme are the little mushroom ornaments, the brushed brass bells, and the adorable deer donning sweaters.

Farmhouse White

Bunch of bells on twine $39.99 | Nordic Xmas tree stocking $24.99 | Joy ornament $24.99 | Wooden tabletop snowflake $19.99 | Pinecone pick $5.99 | Wooden deer $49.99 | Large white country bell $19.99

As far as I’m concerned, farmhouse will never go out of style. This theme definitely stands the test of time. With rustic cream and natural wood tones, this look can work in any home.

It can stand alone, or its neutral elements can be incorporated into any other decorations you may have. If you’re looking to achieve a more farmhouse style, a great place to start is by adding burlap ribbon, pinecones or rustic matte bells into your tree.

Classic Christmas

Striped ribbon (10 yards) $14.99 | Vintage brass bell $24.99 | Christmas tree sign $24.99 | Barnyard ornament $12.99 | 'merry' table runner $49.99 | Quilled greeting card $9.99

To me, this style is reminiscent of settings from holiday favourites like: A Christmas Story, Home Alone, and National Lampoons Christmas. (In fact, we have throw cushions with the phrase “Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal!” on them) One can never go wrong with the nostalgia classic Christmas brings.

This year our suppliers have provided some fantastic traditional décor, from beautiful plaid pillows, signs, vintage looking brass bells, to the most gorgeous ribbon! If you are looking for touches of old-fashioned red, look no further!

Christmas Whimsy

No peeking ribbon (10 yards) $12.99 | Felted bear $19.99 | 85" Pompom garland $19.99 | Gnome ornament $12.99 | Wooden Gnome sign $9.99 | Red pattern stocking $14.99 | Pine pick with bells $7.99 | Gnome $19.99

Are you looking to add something a little more kid friendly to your décor? Or perhaps you just want to embrace the magic of the season with something lighthearted and silly. Anna’s is fully stocked with the likes of felted mice & bears, bottlebrush trees, and pom-pom garland. Oh, and did I mention gnomes?

We may have a few of those in stock too 😉

Cardinals and Berries

Velvet poinsettia pick - $9.99 | Ribbon (10 yards) - $19.99 | Merry Christmas ornament $9.99 | Glass cardinal ornament $19.99 | Frosted berries spray $9.99

As you may have noticed by now, I have a deep love for nature and all living things. So adding any kind of animal into the works is always a yes for me. Cardinals however, have a much deeper meaning. They have long symbolized a loved one who has passed away. Some believe that the bird is their loved one returning for a visit, others see the cardinal as a reminder of their dearly departed. Either way, adding a cardinal is a great reminder that our loved ones are never too far away.

Nautical

Blue gingham table runner $29.99 |
11.75" glass tree $49.99 | Ribbon (10 yrds) $14.99 | Frosted glass ball $12.99 | Glimmery elipse ornament $9.99 | Bird $7.99

When imagining Christmas decorations, nautical is not always an obvious choice. But it can be so stunning! If you have a house near the lake, or are simply drawn to a beachy lifestyle, accenting with frosty tones of silver and blue are just so dreamy. Add in crisp whites and a little sparkle and you’re set!

Rosé all Day

Extra Large pink bottle brush tree $49.99 | Wooden snowflake $12.99 | Striped linen stocking $59.99 | Fur ball $7.99 | Wooden Santa ornament $12.99 | Pink and gold ball $7.99 | Rose pink tin ball $7.99 | 17 Frosted pine spray with pinecone $14.99

Last year our rose gold and champagne tree was by far the first to get shopped. And how could anyone resist…it was STUNNING. This year is no different. Rose gold is still on trend, and thank goodness because, as it turns out, rose pink in a flocked tree is an absolute showstopper. Mixing up textures like florals, fur, glass balls, and glitzy ribbon is always a recipe for success. If this is a look you’re after, run -  don’t walk.

Gold and Glitz

Knit stocking $39.99 | Star tree topper $39.99 | Rustic pewter ball $9.99 | Gold polka dot glass ball $14.99 | Gold & rhinestone snowflake $9.99 | Large pewter glass ball $9.99

Last, but certainly not least is Gold and Glitz. Because everyone can use a little glam for the holidays! Deep pewter, gold and frosty white come together to create a spectacular tree. Again, the trick when adorning a sparkly tree is to contrast with different textures. In our glitzy tree we added over sized white flowers to bring in dimension, and to fill in the bald spots from the dainty, glass ornaments. We think it looks great, but come in and take a look for yourself!

We’ve been busy decorating the store to the nines and can’t wait to showcase it to all of our wonderful customers! Before we know it, we will all be pulling out our decorations at home and untangling strands of lights. In the meantime, grab a friend and a hot drink to tour the store and take in some inspiration.
