Light: Strawberry plants should get at least 8 hours of full sun every day. If they get less sun, your strawberry harvest will be smaller.

Soil and Water: Your strawberry bed needs rich, loamy, well-drained soil that's moist and is slightly acidic, with a pH between 5.3 and 6.5. Before planting, amend the soil with plenty of compost or well-rotted manure. During the growing season, water the plants 1-2 inches per week.
